Dear TCJHS Parents and Guardians,

I hope you are having a wonderful summer. As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, we encourage you to begin your child's enrollment as soon as possible.

Enrollment forms may be obtained in person at Tuba City Junior High School or completed online through the district website at TCUSD.org.

Our school office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and staff are available to assist you with enrollment questions and requirements.

We also encourage all families to review the TCJHS Student Handbook, which is available on the district website. The handbook contains important information regarding school policies, procedures, expectations, and student resources.

Please note that Tuba City Junior High School will continue to follow the Clear Bag Policy for the 2026–2027 school year. Parents and guardians will be responsible for providing their child with a clear backpack that meets school requirements. This policy helps us maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff. Additional information regarding the Clear Bag Policy can be found in the student handbook.

By completing enrollment early, we can ensure that your child is fully registered and ready for the first day of school with their class schedule prepared. Early enrollment also helps our staff plan effectively for students' needs and provide a smooth start to the school year.

Please mark your calendars: The first day of school is August 3, 2026.

The summer months are flying by, and we appreciate you taking the time to complete your child's enrollment. We look forward to welcoming our students back for another successful school year.

"I have been in education for 26 years, with 19 of these years dedicated to the Tuba City Unified School District. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles, including school counselor, classroom teacher, dean of students, and now principal."

Meet The Principal

 

Hello! My name is Constance Benally, and I am proud to serve as the Principal of Tuba City Jr. High School.
I am passionate about working with teachers, parents, and students, and I strongly believe that every individual has the potential to become a positive, contributing citizen.  My goal is to help nurture that potential by fostering a supportive and empowering school environment.
I truly love and respect my teachers for their hard work and unwavering dedication to our students. Tuba City Jr. High School holds a special place in my heart, and I find great joy in watching our students grow academically, emotionally, and socially as they become confident and self-sufficient young adults.
I look forward to continuing to serve our school community and working together to ensure success for all our students.

Building Blocks of Crisis Response

HOLD

“In Your Classroom or Area”

Students are trained to:

  • Clear the hallways and remain in their area or room until the “All Clear” is announced. 
  • Do business as usual.

Adults and staff are trained to:

  • Close and lock the door.
  • Account for students and adults.
  • Do business as usual.

SECURE

“Get Inside, Lock Outside Doors”

Security is called when there is something dangerous outside of the building. Example: wild animal, nearby police investigation, etc.

Students are trained to:

  • Return to the inside of the building. 
  • Business as usual.

Adults and staff are trained to:

  • Bring everyone indoors. 
  • Lock the outside doors.
  • Increase situational awareness.
  • Account for students and adults.
  • Business as usual.

LOCKDOWN

“Locks, Lights, Out of Sight”

A lockdown is only initiated when there is an active threat inside or very close to the building. 

Students are trained to:

  • Move away from sight.
  • Maintain silence.
  • Do not open the door.

Adults and staff are trained to:

  • Recover students from the hallway if possible.
  • Lock the classroom door. 
  • Turn out the lights. 
  • Move away from sight.
  • Maintain silence. 
  • Do not open the door. 
  • Prepare to evade or defend. 

EVACUATE

“To a Location”

Students are trained to:

  • Leave stuff behind if required to.
  • If possible, bring their phone.
  • Follow instructions.

Adults and staff are trained to:

  • Bring roll sheet and Go Bag (unless instructed not to bring anything with them, dependent on the reason for evacuation).
  • Lead students to the Evacuation location.
  • Account for students and adults. 
  • Report injuries or problems using Red Card/Green Card method.

SHELTER

“State Hazard & Safety Strategy”

Hazards might include:

  • Tornado
  • Hazmat
  • Earthquake
  • Tsunami

Safety strategies might include:

  • Evacuate to the shelter area.
  • Seal the room.
  • Drop, cover, and hold.
  • Get to high ground.

Students are trained in:

  • Appropriate Hazards and Safety Strategies

Adults and staff are trained to:

  • Appropriate Hazards and Safety Strategies.
  • Accounting for students and adults.
  • Report injuries or problems using the Red Card/Green Card method.
